    Shift:
    Days - 8 hrs, 10 hrs, 12 hrs with a mix of 1st, 2nd and 3rd call.

    Provide anesthesia services that are vital to the safety and comfort of surgical patients of the organization. Participate in the training of student nurse anesthetists rotating through the department. Follow all operating room, department, and hospital rules and regulations. Fully participate in all Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) call assignments.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum of three months experience or training to work in a Level 1 Trauma Center required.
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required unless candidate meets all of the factors to qualify for Exception A or Exception B.
    • Ability to identify potential situations of abuse required.
    • Ability to handle low volume, high risk situations such as malignant hypothermia required.
    • Computer competency to include working with patient information system required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
    • Strong organizational skills required.
    • Attention to detail required.
    • Knowledge and capability of managing age-specific needs of patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric required.
    • Knowledge or training in managing anesthesia care for solid organ transplants (excluding heart and lung transplantation) required.
    • Capability in an Anesthesia Care Team approach required.
    • Proficient in general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and I.V. sedation required.
    • Currently licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) upon hire date required.
    • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) upon hire date required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in the operating room working as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) preferred.
    • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
    • Exception details:

    EXCEPTION A:

    Candidate must meet all of the following: (1) has current experience directly applicable to position; (2) is deemed the best candidate for the position; and (3) written approval to hire a candidate without a BSN is received from the hiring Director, Nursing Practice Professional Development & Informatics Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer.

    If a candidate is hired without a BSN after meeting these criteria, the candidate must either have 30 years of experience directly applicable to the position or sign a written agreement consenting to obtain a BSN within four years from his/her hire date.


    EXCEPTION B:

    Candidate must meet all of the following: (1) is currently employed by Nebraska Medicine, or is eligible for rehire into a benefit eligible employment status at Nebraska Medicine within 364 days of the previous termination date; (2) hired by Nebraska Medicine before November 21, 2014, or hired by an entity acquired by Nebraska Medicine if the employee was hired before the acquisition; (3) has experience directly applicable to position; and (4) currently hold a Registered Nursing License.
