    Job Purpose

    The Controller will manage all accounting functions through year end closing, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, bank reconciliation and general ledger. Work with department heads in controlling operating cost of goods sold. Direct budget preparation with management team; prepare final budgets and necessary supporting documentation. Responsible for accuracy of month and year end financial reports, payroll reports and 1099's. This role requires: strong domain expertise, working knowledge of Internet and technology businesses as they relate to finance and accounting and the ability to work with a diverse group of people on a variety of initiatives. This person will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholder to achieve department, company, and personal goals.

    Base Salary

    $110K to $120K

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including financial reporting, recordkeeping, and internal controls.
    • Prepare and analyze key financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) according to GAAP standards.
    • Manage the monthly closing process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive budgeting and forecasting model to support strategic planning.
    • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to management to support informed decision-making.
    • Manage cash flow, including forecasting, collections, and payments.
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
    • Maintain strong relationships with third party legal and financial advisors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Implement and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
    • Manage the accounting team and provide guidance and support.
    • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial expertise to support business goals.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial controller role, preferably within the technology or data industry.
    • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and strong Excel skills.
    • Ability to work independently while also taking direction and working effectively as part of a team.
    • Ability to thrive in a small company environment.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree and CPA required. MBA and Big 4 experience a plus.
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience: ideally experience at a large accounting firm in an audit capacity, and at both a public and private technology company in a finance and accounting capacity.
