    Job Description

    Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on driving vendor quality and yield improvement for network components.

    We are looking for engineers with a diverse background covering numerous areas of network hardware engineering including cabling, low level device performance, thermals, etc.

    You will work with both internal and external teams to track and understand failure patterns and drive improvements both within OCI and also with our hardware suppliers.

    As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.

    Lead the tracking of all hardware failures within the OCI global network and find failure patterns. Drive resolution of those patterns via software, hardware and process changes. Organizes project technical milestones & supporting tasks. May work as project technical lead, coordinating effort of two or three engineers. Advises project/program manager and coordinates with immediate and skip-level leadership. Collaborates across teams within same org (same VP) and outside of org. Serve as technical SME in cross-functional activities. Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation. Responsible for decomposing high-level architectures into detailed designs.

    Ability to lead multiple engineers in developing network solutions consisting of multiple modules with complex interactions; Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems.

    Serves specialized escalation for all physical design and cabling issues within networking. Serves as principal point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex network quality issues. Understand both active and passive network hardware and common failure patterns. Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff. Interprets input from leaders (technical and managers) and provides focused development to junior member. Able to carry out technical coaching sessions, and helps junior members develop skills. Collaborates with vendor engineering and account manager to address current business or operational issues. Participates in the development of RFQ/RFPs. Active communication with product teams. Responsible to drive technology to meet product and service requirements. Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to help assess gaps, solutions and needs.

    Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market.

    Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods.

    Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.

    US:

    Hiring Range:
    from $97,400 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.


    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

    Paid time off:
    Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits.

    For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.

    Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

    11 paid holidays

    Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
