    Summary


    The Marine Forces Reserve is a three-star General level command responsible for training and equipping approximately 160 geographically dispersed Marine Reserve units across the United States to augment and reinforce active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency or contingency operations, provide personnel and operational tempo relief for the active forces in peacetime, and provide service to the community.

    The geographical disbursement of Marine Forces Reserve units requires significant investment in Command and Control IT solutions.

    The IT services identified in this PWS are critical to maintaining, sustaining, and evolving the Command and Control platforms for the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve.


    You will work closely with our data analysts and platform leads to support and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.

    You will be responsible for identifying, collecting, and maintaining mature data sets that feed into Power BI reports utilized in the Plans and Operations section of the Marine Forces Reserve.

    This role will enable data-driven decision making across the organization.

    Job Duties And Responsibilities

    Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the data input, correlation, and maintenance of Power BI generated reports within the Training and Operations section
    Conduct periodic system stress tests and data reconciliations to ensure the outward facing visualization are correct and appropriate to the decisions they are meant to inform
    Develop and brief regular sprint plans which support the maintenance, refinement, and improvement of Power BI reports and visualizations
    Regularly research alternatives to improve existing systems and provide recommended changes
    Solicit and receive data from MARFORRES staff directorates and upload this information into reports in the appropriate format
    Create and maintain a system to track requested changes to reports and provide regular updates on the status and where these items fall in the sprint plans
    Receive and, when necessary, implement the required changes in line with the approved sprint plan
    Create classes on how to use the reports and provide training, as required
    Provide briefs on the changes to and justification for methodologies chosen to be used in the Power BI reports
    Manipulate algorithms to create the necessary visualization for the decisions those visualizations are meant to inform
    Conduct statistical testing and experimental design methodologies to determine impacts of organizational actions
    Create and update policies pertaining to the reports and support the maintenance and use of new tools in our environment
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams, to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives
    Maintain documentation of data sources for relevant reports
    Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices through continuous learning and training

    Qualifications

    Required Certifications

    DoD IAT Level II Certification

    Education, Background, and Years of Experience

    1 year of experience with Microsoft Teams.

    2 years of experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

    Ability to gather requirements; produce system designs and technical specifications; configure software; design data conversions, integrations, reports, and enhancements; test technology solutions; train key stakeholders such as support personnel, system administrators, and end users; maintain and supports business software
    Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of how application software has been configured and integrated to support user needs and how database structures, data use, process inputs and outputs for his/her responsible functions
    Acts as subject matter expert for Power BI reports in the Plans and Operations section
    Communicates with application users to address incidents, fulfill requests, administer changes, and resolve problems, as per established policies and best practices
    Ability to work within a team to create solutions to identified problems and shortfalls identified with the necessary applications
    Escalate issues to management when appropriate
    Technical support and education for other team/staff members
    Assist IT management and end-users to determine feasibility of potential systems projects
    Willingness to learn the user role/security administration functions of newer technologies brought into the applications
    Communication of application capabilities and requirements to audiences of varying levels of Information Technology experience
    Understanding of Marine Corps policy writing
