Description
The Associate Financial Analyst will be an integral member of the Dean's Suite Finance Team, responsible for performing reconciliation and financial analysis for the School of Management.
Applicants should have advanced accounting knowledge and ability in the preparation of a variety of complex regular and special financial transactions and reports.
This position will be responsible for a variety of financial duties that may including:Managing chart of accounts
Assisting in budget preparation activity
Award setups
Reviewing/approving one card transactions
IDTS
eProcurement requisitions
Processing budget transfers/journals
Extracting extract extensive personalized query reports on school financials from PeopleSoft
Acting as a backup approver to the
SFO
Providing business process and PeopleSoft training to end users
Identifying and driving process improvements
Preparing ad hoc analyses and reports
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other Business area. Two years of experience in Accounting, Budget or other Financial area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Business acumen, leadership capabilities, ability to think strategically and analytically. Experience in providing innovation and problem solving; excellent oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Requires extreme accuracy in all phases of work.
Preferred Education and Experience
At least 4 – 6 years experience in governmental accounting and advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft and knowledge of reports and data extraction from PeopleSoft.
PeopleSoft knowledge and experience in a higher education environment desiredAbility to work independently, including task coordination and decision-making, as well as in a team environment.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in advanced functions of the full Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
A successful candidate must be a self-starter, who is detail-oriented, has the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks, possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, and has strong organizational and analytical skills.
Applicant must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities and work well in a team environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists School Fiscal Officer in managing the financial position of the School of Management. This position would use a variety of spreadsheets, database query tools, and other software to mine, collate and organize data from PeopleSoft reports and assist the
SFO
in budget preparation, faculty academic load calculations, summer budget preparation, etc.
Will be responsible for Scholarship processing, reviewing and approving One Card transactions, reviewing purchase and travel requisitions, processing IDTs, budget journals, transfers, etc.
Apply advanced finance and PS knowledge and expertise in the preparation of a variety of financial reports and queries as requested.
Compile, interpret, and communicate information to various stakeholders.Work closely with the
SFO
to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support.
Interpret policies and regulations concerning the School's financial activities ensuring compliance with the relevant university policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Federal regulations for sponsored projects.
Sound knowledge and experience with reporting tools and dashboards ( like Excel, Access, etc.).
Progressively responsible experience in finance/HR/ reporting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial/operational analysis.
