    Summary

    As a Tax Senior, you will be responsible for preparing and filing basic to advanced level Federal and State tax returns in a timely manner.

    You will be expected to maintain open communication with internal Supervisors, Managers and Principals to ensure quality assurance and workflows are continuing in an organized, efficient and professional manner.

    The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of individual and business taxation and the ability and willingness to work in a team environment to assist in all phases of engagement.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Displays technical proficiency in tax preparation and assembly of related documentation.
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of tax law including the ability to perform tax research and to prepare technical memorandums as required.
    • Prepares federal, state and local tax returns and prepares more difficult quarterly estimated tax and extension payments and corresponding vouchers.
    • Interfaces with taxing authorities and assists with gathering the information for federal, state and local tax audits.
    • Ensures that work papers and tax returns are prepared in accordance with firm standards.
    • Strong organization and follow-up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments.
    • Ability to give and follow instructions accurately and efficiently; proactive in asking clarifying questions to ensure work effort is directed wholly toward desired outcome.
    • Demonstrates understanding of the importance of, and is willing to follow, current CS&L procedures; aligns with the CS&L vision, mission and core values.
    • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change. Demonstrates a willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information and challenges.

    Qualifications

    Experience
    Generally, a minimum of 2+ year's relevant tax experience within a public accounting firm

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in the field of accounting required
    Participates in career development programs to improve supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Licenses and Certificates:
    A current and valid CPA license is preferred but not required

    Language Skills:


    English language proficient with the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documentation and to write routine business correspondence.


    Reasoning Ability:


    Ability to solve practical problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Working Conditions:
    Occasional overtime work required throughout the year.

    Heavy overtime work required from January 15 to April 15 that may be in excess of 55 hours per week.
