    Job Title:
    Unit Leader


    Position Overview:


    As a Unit Leader at our overnight summer camp, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for campers aged 7-16.

    You will oversee a group of campers throughout their stay, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being while facilitating memorable experiences and fostering personal growth.

    This leadership position requires strong communication skills, empathy, organization, and a passion for working with youth in a residential camp setting.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Supervision and Support:


    Oversee a group of campers, typically ranging from 15 to 40 campers in size, providing guidance, encouragement, and mentorship throughout their camp experience.

    Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the unit, promoting teamwork, respect, and cooperation among campers.


    Address any conflicts or behavioral issues promptly and constructively, utilizing conflict resolution techniques and maintaining open communication with campers and staff.

    Safety and Well-being:


    Ensure the physical and emotional safety of campers at all times, adhering to camp policies and procedures and implementing appropriate safety protocols.


    Monitor camper health and well-being, promptly addressing any medical concerns or emergencies and coordinating with camp healthcare staff as needed.

    Promote healthy habits and self-care practices among campers, encouraging proper hygiene, nutrition, and hydration.


    Activity Planning and Facilitation:


    Collaborate with program staff to plan and implement engaging activities, games, and events tailored to the interests and developmental levels of campers.

    Lead daily unit meetings and reflection sessions, facilitating discussions on topics such as teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.


    Actively participate in all camp activities, providing supervision and support to campers during group outings, recreational activities, and special events.


    Staff Leadership and Collaboration:


    Serve as a role model and mentor for counselors and junior staff within the unit, providing guidance, feedback, and support in their roles.


    Collaborate with other unit leaders and camp leadership team members to coordinate schedules, share resources, and address any cross-unit concerns or initiatives.


    Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance leadership skills and contribute to the overall camp community.


    Qualifications:
    Previous experience working in a residential camp environment or similar youth-focused setting.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with campers of diverse backgrounds and personalities.

    Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience supervising and mentoring staff or volunteers.

    Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and crisis management.

    Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety training (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).


    Genuine passion for working with children and adolescents, with a commitment to creating a positive and supportive camp experience for all participants.


    Additional Information:


    This is a full-time, seasonal position typically lasting 11 weeks from June 7 to Augest 23, with the possibility of additional training or off-season responsibilities.

    Room and board are provided for the duration of the camp season, with accommodations shared with other staff members.

    Background checks and reference checks may be required as part of the hiring process.

    • Manage and supervise a team of sales associates
    • Train and onboard new team members
    • Monitor and evaluate employee performance
    • Ensure excellent customer service is provided at all times
    • Drive sales by implementing effective sales strategies
    • Maintain accurate inventory control and stock levels
    • Handle cash register operations and cash handling procedures
    • Assist with budgeting and financial management
    • Collaborate with Assistant Manager to achieve store goals
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
    ```Requirements```

    • Previous experience in retail management or related field
    • Strong knowledge of stock management and inventory control
    • Proven track record in driving sales and achieving targets
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills
    • Proficient in cash handling procedures and cash register operations
    • Knowledge of wireless sales is a plus
    • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members
    • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
