- Design, develop, and maintain critical software in a fast-paced quality conscious environment
- Author software functional specifications and design documents
- Quickly understand complex systems/code and own key pieces of the system
- Design and implementation of scalable algorithms
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems in a distributed computing environment
- Perform peer reviews of specifications, designs, and code
- Work alongside Site Reliability Engineers and cross functional teams to diagnose/troubleshoot any production performance related issues
- Harness' environment is Java / Golang and related modern technologies
- Extensive experience developing highly scalable, distributed applications, products and services in Golang or Java (~4+ years)
- A desire to build products that solve complex technical problems for end users
- Deep understanding of how distributed resilient software is built and deployed
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
- Comfort in working in short, agile, iterative development cycles
- Strong desire to work in an unstructured, fast moving startup environment
- Computer Science degree or equivalent experience required

Position Summary
We're on the lookout for a dynamic and driven software engineer to play a critical role within our Platform engineering organization. Come join a team that has been defining the next generation in rapid, secure, and reliable software delivery.
The Harness Platform team is responsible for building and managing the core components that power all of our modules, such as CI/CD, STO, etc. These core services ensure secure and scalable operation for all our modules, including Account Management, Authentication, Authorization, Audit, Notifications, and Secret Management. Additionally, we build the Harness delegates/agents and deploy them onto customer infrastructure. The platform team is also responsible for setting up our internal deployment infrastructure, such as multi-cluster setup and common libraries for Redis/Mongo, Kafka. We oversee the platform-wide observability efforts. Finally, the platform data team helps us power in-product analytics and Business Intelligence by building ETL pipelines, query engines, and dashboards.

About the role
This role is primarily focused on the core services and Harness delegates. We are currently building the next generation of Delegates, Authentication, and Access Control services. For this, we are looking for a passionate engineer to help build and scale these components.
You will be responsible for architecting the next generation of these services, mentoring junior engineers, and developing high-quality software that forms the core part of the Harness platform.
