- Participates in routine public service by circulating materials to customers, which includes checking materials in and out, placing holds, registering borrowers, collecting fines and fees.
- Provides basic reference and reader's advisory service to customers of all ages.
- Assists in department operations - opening and closing the desk, counting money, balancing cash register, filling displays, emptying book and video drops, sorting materials, setting up book trucks, shelving materials, reading shelves, etc.
- Performs clerical tasks related to processing Search Ohio materials to include searching lists, checking in, labeling, distributing, and packaging to send to other libraries.
- Answers the telephone, responds to inquiries and directs calls, uses public address system.
- Attends to public use photocopiers - adds paper, assists customers with machine problems, contacts supervisor regarding service needs.
- Provides users with general information about library services, directing them to other departments as appropriate.
- Applies library policy to be consistent with circulation procedures in public service situations.
- Registers voters and Golden Buckeye applicants.
- Handles returned mail. Mails appropriate policy forms with library cards. Enters customer registration data into computer. Maintains application files.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Part-Time Customer Service Assistant with the Circulation Department at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library As a Part-Time Customer Service Assistant, you will be the friendly face that greets our customers, assists them with their library needs, and ensures they have a positive experience during their visit. You will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and promoting library services and programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor. Comfortable with basic computer operations and a willingness to learn library-specific software. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. Previous library or customer service experience is desirable but not required.
