Description:

This is an entry level position responsible for the safe operation of industrial machinery in support of power plant operations. Responsible for the safe operation of mobile heavy equipment, such as wheeled dozers, haul trucks, and water wagons as well as stationary heavy equipment such as conveyors, stacker/reclaimer, and railcar dumper. This position supports the proper operation and maintenance of a commercial multi-unit power generation facility. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to operating, maintaining and troubleshooting systems required for the safe operation of industrial equipment associated with Combined Cycle and Coal Fired power plants.

• Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard plant equipment.
• Performs planned and corrective maintenance as directed including semi-skilled mechanical.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance of the electrical and/or mechanical equipment, structures and building of power station operation; makes regular inspections and tests of facilities to determine the overall condition of the power plant.
• Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to Operations Department and/or Maintenance Department Staff and Managers.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly testing as required to maintain compliance with governing agencies.
• Make entries in the Operating Log as necessary.
• Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard plant equipment.
• Responds to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and executes plant procedures as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Valid Drivers License

• Highly motivated with willingness to work swing shifts and extended hours when necessary, and be available for emergency call-outs as necessary.

• Effective knowledge of industrial machinery operations, specifically heavy equipment

• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Reliability and commitment to the team are critical.

• Familiarity with lockout tag-out procedures.

• Must be able to stand and walk on cement floors, uneven ground, slippery surfaces, and open grating at heights ranging from ground level to 390'.

• Must be able to climb extending ladders, restricted overhead clearance ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and various other elevated equipment.

• Must be able to carry and operate a fire extinguisher, escape an emergency situation by running.

• Must be able to wear all required PPE (hard hat, FR clothing, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, safety goggles, respirators, hearing protection, fall protection)

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor level, and push/pull heavy objects while standing, crouching, and in bent posture.
