    The Academic Advising Department at Full Sail University is a collective partnership dedicated to student success through proactive policy education, academic success strategies, and coaching for active and returning students. This Department utilizes a holistic approach to assist students throughout their educational journey. It is our goal to provide an open and welcoming environment to support our students from orientation/re-entry to graduation.
    The Academic Advising Department consists of three (3) divisions:

    • Academic Advisors - To educate students on policy, guide them to resources, and support them in finding creative solutions to their challenges.

    • Academic Relaunch Advisors - To engage and reignite students towards a renewed focus and opportunity to achieve their dream.

    • Academic Coaches - To empower students to establish goals and develop skills for personal and professional growth.
    All positions are full time, hours may include Monday-Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm. Occasionally nights and weekends may be required.

    Vision: To encourage students to persevere through challenges and reaffirm their dreams.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists students with the process of re-enrollment such as but not limited to the requirements of re-entry, program exploration, and academic policies.
    • Assesses student files to determine academic status to support return.
    • Advises, interprets, and provides rationale for departmental and university-wide policies, procedures, and requirements.
    • Identifies and offers solutions to resolve obstacles impeding the successful return of students.
    • Informs and/or refers students to other institutional resources or departments.
    • Reviews and makes decision regarding academic re-entry appeals, when appropriate.
    • Participates in proactive outreach campaigns to connect with withdrawn students for possible return.
    • Collaborates with internal departments to provide comprehensive resources across the Full Sail ecosystem.
    • Documents and maintains confidential students records in compliance with FERPA and ADA Standards.
    • Engages in professional development by participating in conferences, training sessions, and webinars on best practices of academic advising.
    • Participates in office staff development, workshops, programs, and administrative functions and meetings.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Full Sail University.
    • Maintains strict confidentiality of student and company information.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
    • Adheres to company attendance standards.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • The ideal candidate would hold a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Counseling, Communication, or a related field with experience.

    Skills:

    • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Outlook

    Environmental Factors/Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office and classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active student and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
