Full-time, Weekend Days, Fri-Sun, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
JOB SUMMARY:
Ultrasound Tech utilizes clinical and technical knowledge to obtain high quality sonographic images and detailed patient worksheets that will provide the radiologist with the diagnostic information necessary for accurate interpretations.
Promotes a smooth flow of patients through the department and helps to create a calm and supportive atmosphere, performs tasks as required, paying attention to detail and accuracy, conducts all interactions with patients and personnel in a courteous, respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality.
Ultrasound Tech exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to professional ethics as defined by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist, the society of Nuclear Medicine, and/or the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
ARDMS certified or eligible for certification.
Specialty certification by the ARRT, ARDMS, and/or SNM is desirable.
Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
Proficiency in providing abdominal, OB/Gyn, vascular and small part ultrasound services.
Experience:
Echocardiography experience is preferred.
Previous ultrasound experience preferred.
Population Served:
Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Age, and Elderly.
SPECIALTY DESCRIPTION:
A Specialty Imaging Technologist is defined as a technologist obtaining imaging by digital methods other than general radiography, i.e., CT/MRI/Nuclear Medicine and/or Ultrasound.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for control of inventory and purchase of supplies for the assigned area.

Provides input for equipment purchase and supply decisions.

Analyzes patient diagnoses and assures imaging examination is appropriate. In consultation with Radiologist and/or primary health care provider recommends modification of exam as needed.

Understands and applies patient relation skills.
Identifies problems, communicates to immediate supervisor, and offers solutions as appropriate.
Technical Proficiency
Performs specialty imaging procedures and radiographs where applicable.
Teamwork
Initiates and fosters collaboration with the patient, significant others, coworkers, and other health care professionals.
Participates in solving team issues in a constructive manner.
Performs other tasks appropriate to and within the scope of practice of a Specialty Imaging Technologist as requested by immediate supervisor.
Quality
Participates in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area.
