    About the job

    This position is needed to lead a team of software engineers working on Twilio's Conversational and Voice Intelligence features as part of growing our investment in utilizing artificial intelligence to support communications. The role joins an established team of software and machine learning engineers based in the US and EMEA building these features.

    Responsibilities

    In this role, you'll:

  • Lead a team of talented Software Engineers to build features to delight customers.
  • Work with engineers in developing technical designs and blueprints.
  • Own, oversee and drive improvements to software development life cycle and delivery processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to design products & features.
  • Engage with Customers to understand their needs, delights and frustrations.
  • Ensure a high operational standard to meet Twilio's SLOs and Customers expectations
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to foster professional and personal growth.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new engineering team members.

    Required:

  • 5+ years experience in software engineering building highly available enterprise applications
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience leading, managing and developing software engineering teams
  • Experience building distributed systems deployed onto cloud environments
  • Ability to manage software development projects through their full lifecycle
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience ensuring operational excellence and systems reliability.
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.

    Desired:

  • Experience building machine learning powered software and with MLOps
  • Knowledge of telecommunications

    Location

    This role will be remote in the USA, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

    Travel

    The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • The estimated pay range for this role, is $162, $270,000.00
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

    The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
