POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Manager, Radiology and theimmediate supervision of the Department Lead, the Ultrasound Technologistperforms imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constantsupervision of technical detail.

Performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment,ingenuity and initiative. The UltrasoundTechnologist will assume responsibility and accountability for specificultrasound equipment and areas.

Inaddition to the above responsibilities, the Ultrasound Technologist will alsoassist with facilitation of patient flow and performing basic patient careactivities under the supervision of the department staff.

The Ultrasound Technologist supports andcontributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and theUltrasound Department.


EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:
Competent in OB/GYN, soft tissue/small part and Abdomenultrasonography as demonstrated by past work experience or clinical hours ORcompletion of a training program Desired:2 years experience in UltrasoundPrevious experience in an acute care environmentCompetent in all ultrasound examinations includinginterventional and vascular ultrasound LICENSES /


CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

RDMS certified by the American Registry for DiagnosticMedical Sonography (ARDMS) (within 18 months of hire) (Those employees who wereclassified as Ultrasound Techs prior to January 1, 2017 who did not have theirRDMS certification at that time will be grandfathered in without thisrequirement.

Ultrasound Techs who have obtained their certifications arerequired to keep current with ARDMS requirements to maintain an activeregistry)

Current approved CPR certification Desired:
Completion of Ultrasound training programCertification in Nuchal Translucency through the NTQRCertification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) byARDMS SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE /


ABILITIES:

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure andfunction, patient care, quality assurance, and specialized techniques asrequired for an Ultrasound Technologist.

Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a high level of attention todetail. Excellent communication skillsand problem solving techniques are required.
