- Define and execute the technical vision and strategy for Replit's product and growth engineering teams, aligning it with the company's overall goals.
- Collaborate with design and product management teams to ensure a high-quality product that meets users needs.
- Collaborate with finance and business operations teams to ensure our product packaging, pricing, and positioning are serving the market and delivering healthy growth.
- Own the end-to-end product development process, from concept and design through to implementation, testing, and release.
- Be accountable for the scalability, performance, and reliability of our product, maintaining a high standard of excellence.
- Be able to operate at all levels of your organization in order to make good decisions, coach/mentor the team, or roll up your sleeves and pitch in as needed.
- At least 5 years of software development experience as a high-performing individual contributor, building user-facing software
- At least 5 years of experience as an engineering manager in a fast-paced environment
- Experience leading teams responsible for building and growing user-facing products
- Commitment to product and technical excellence, familiar with: software project management, software testing, CI/CD solutions, system monitoring, and incident management.
- Understanding of Replit's vision and current product, and strong opinions about what could be made better.
- You're an active Replit user.
- You've worked at an early-stage startup or have founded your own.
- Experience in the developer tools industry.

About the Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Product Engineering to lead our product and growth engineering teams. As the Head of Product Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical direction, strategy, and execution of our product roadmap. You will collaborate closely with partners in design, product management, data science, and sales to help Replit achieve its mission.
A key part of our engineering culture is to empower engineers to drive not only the technical aspects of the projects they're involved in, but also its overall scoping and definition. The Head of Product Engineering must be able to recruit, hire, and retain a high-performing team capable of rising to this level of challenge. They must also have strong product sense, be able to make hard decisions and be excellent communicators, in order to help their team to succeed.
