    Description
    Job Duties
    • Flexible staffing arrangement for Registered Nurses looking for extra hours, limited to an average of 29 hours per week.
    • Providing nursing care within adult institutions using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patients per practice standards.
    • Offering services like 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, medication administration, patient education, and emergency care.
    • Documenting information into health records, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with other departments as needed.
    • Ability to delegate tasks and adapt to assigned work hours, days, and locations.

    Registered Nurses must be capable of providing coverage as required to meet institutional needs, focusing on evidence-based nursing care with a correctional nursing emphasis.

    Organizational Objective:

    • Ensuring total healthcare provision to offenders from routine to emergency care, ensuring continuity of care.
    • Administering medications safely following departmental policy.
    • Providing employee health services as per policy guidelines.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing program.
    • Hold a valid unrestricted Virginia RN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
    • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers by American Heart Association or American Red Cross upon hire.

    Additional Considerations

    • Prior experience in Corrections or Law enforcement settings.
    • Experience with mental health patients.
    • Background in acute care and/or community health settings.
