    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer with expertise in large-scale, high-availability environments. The DBRE team at SHEIN focuses on delivering reliable, high-performance, and secure database infrastructure through automation. This role involves designing new architectures and scalability solutions to support the company's expanding business and data needs.

    Understanding database fundamentals and how they interact with applications and operating systems is crucial for success. This position offers the flexibility of working remotely as part of a distributed team, collaborating with colleagues and systems globally.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Maintaining scalable, reliable production databases (MySQL on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Monitoring and addressing database issues promptly.
    • Optimizing performance and query efficiency.
    • Developing database tools and automation scripts.
    • Collaborating with development teams on database design.
    • Managing database upgrades, migrations, and performance enhancements.
    • Resolving database incidents and implementing preventive measures.
    • Conducting capacity planning and benchmarking.
    • Ensuring data integrity, security, and privacy.
    • Providing on-call support on a rotation basis.

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • Experience with MySQL and cloud platforms like AWS/GCP.
    • Knowledge of distributed database topologies.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, Aurora, RDS).
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
    • Expertise in system performance monitoring and analysis.
    • Proficiency in Linux systems and open-source software deployment.
    • Skilled in scripting languages (shell, perl, python, etc.).
    • Passion for solving complex scalability challenges.
    • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    Good to have:

    • 2+ years managing MySQL or similar databases at scale.
    • Experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).

    Pay: $101,400.00 - $166,800.00 annually, with Bonus & RSU offerings.
