Position Summary

Come help create BoujieMana, a brand-new restaurant located in central San Diego Sitting amongst apartments and office buildings, we will serve both the public, and provide support to TCWGlobal by preparing meals (basic catering style) 3 times a week for 125+ employees. BoujieMana has it alla full bar, VIP room, indoor and outdoor seating, and a training/event center with a capacity of 120 people. There is abundant nighttime and weekend parking, and while space is limited during office hours, there is still plenty of street parking. The price point will be on the higher end with the restaurants commitment to utilizing quality ingredients and maintaining a curated menu for all three meals of the day.

We are looking for a personable, organized Server who will be responsible for taking orders from, and serving food to, our guests. This individual will provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience. Server responsibilities include ensuring tables are clean and tidy when guests arrive, presenting menus, taking food and beverage orders, serving food and beverages, and collecting payments. This individual will need to have a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure, partnering with bussers, cooks, and other staff to ensure seamless service. Each servers primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, they will want to return to BoujieMana time and time again.

Key Responsibilities

Primary:

• Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Boujiemana
• Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services
• Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems
• Take food or beverages orders from guests
• Explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
• Inform guests of menu changes and daily specials and make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy
• Write guests food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
• Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving
• Serve food or beverages to guests and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
• Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests, and chill bottles of wine
• Describe and recommend wines to guests
• Check guests identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
• Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour the wine for guests
• Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
• Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaning
• Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
• Collect payments from guests
• Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
• Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining
• Assist the host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests
• Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties
• Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens
• Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
• Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom
• Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiments, and napkin containers
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
• Coordinate with, and assist, fellow employees to meet guests needs and support the operation of the restaurant
• Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations

Supplemental:

• Provide guests with information about local areas, including giving directions

• Cash registers, Point-of-sale terminals, POS software, and workstations
• Credit card processing machines
• Personal computers, tablets, smart phones and/or handheld devices
• Software - Office suite, web-based applications, etc.
• Commercial use cutlery
• Paging controllers

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous restaurant Server or Waiter experience
• Valid Food Handlers Card
• Valid ABC Card
• Attention to cleanliness and safety
• Patience and customer-oriented approach
• Experience providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment
• A positive, friendly attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff
• Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
