- Acid etches and loads germanium charge and quartz crucible into crystal growing furnace.
- Operates furnace to produce high-purity germanium crystal suitable for detector manufacturing.
- Cleans and maintains crystal growth equipment and associated etch sink/clean room.
- Prepares and documents zone refined ingots for use in the crystal growth process.
- Maintains record and log books on crystals and crystal growth machines.
- Assists in general mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment, as required.
- Assists in quality control and yield assurance and inventory control.
- Must be able to work in a clean room environment.

Provides technical support in the production of germanium radiation detectors by growing detector grade, single-crystal, high-purity Ge (HPGe). Maintains and troubleshoots crystal growth equipment.
