    Overview:
    The Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) center is part of the innovative and collaborative OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, an international leader in cancer research and treatment. At CEDAR, the main mission is to detect and prevent deadly cancers at the earliest stage to save lives, aiming for novelty, creativity, and innovation.     The OHSU Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care (BCCPC) is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing early detection, therapies, and quality of life for pancreatic disease patients. The center's goals include creating models of pancreatic cancer progression and response to treatments to develop new early detection and therapeutic approaches.

    Function/Duties of Position

    OHSU's Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) center and Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care collaborate on developing an innovative cancer diagnostic test merging microfluidic and microarray technology to extract cancer-derived nanoparticles directly from plasma. The ultimate objective is to introduce nanoparticle-based diagnostics to healthcare. Currently, we are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate or Senior Research Associate. Candidates without a proven track record post-doctorate will be considered for the Research Associate position. We are specifically looking for individuals with Engineering or Biology expertise for roles in the following areas:


    • Development of biological particle separation techniques using dielectrophoresis technology - Focusing on enhancing particle collection efficiency, understanding particle characteristics, and developing separation methods using dielectrophoretic forces with microelectrode array chips. This position will involve advanced imaging techniques, immunostaining, and particle characterization.
    • Cancer biomarker panel development - Assessing nanoparticle-associated biomarkers collected to identify pancreatic cancer from plasma samples, leveraging dielectrophoresis methods.

    Required Qualifications

    *SRA: PhD in relevant field and 1 year of relevant experience OR Master's degree in relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 9 years of relevant experience

    • RA: Master's degree in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience
    • Various essential skills including communication, analytical abilities, organizational skills, and experience in handling hazardous materials
    • Proficiency in scientific practices, creativity, collaborative spirit, and independent problem-solving
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new processes swiftly
    • Demonstrated teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication
    • Proficiency in operating scientific equipment and developing experimental protocols

      Preferred Qualifications


      • 2+ years in a research position with supervision and project management experience
      • Proficiency in various techniques like immunostaining, ELISA assays, and interest in adopting new technologies
