- Provide nursing and medical services to residents.
- Provide education regarding prescribed medication and medical treatment to residents, families, and staff.
- Document in the progress notes the provision of care and the clinical and behavioral observations of residents, using the electronic health record
- Administer and document medications adhering to state and program guidelines.
- Provide emergency medical care as needed.
- Receive and transcribe medical and medication orders and add medications to the electronic prescribing program
- Serve as a resource person for education and guidance on medications and medical treatments
- Provide medical information.
- Write medical summaries as assigned, using the electronic health record
- Implement nursing treatment approaches as designated through a nursing care plan.
- Observe and assess residents in terms of therapeutic response to medication and the nursing care plan.
- Assist residents in daily living activities.
- Coordinate medical activities on shift with assigned supervisor and team members.
- Assist in monitoring and documenting medical supplies, floor stock, and pharmacy communication.
- Document, monitor, and assist in all aspects of the laboratory process.
- Serve as a member of the Pearl Street Health Team.
- Assist in infection control activities and be a member of the infection control committee.
- Ensure the care, safety, and supervision of residents on the therapeutic milieu through positive interactions and direct proactive supervision.
- Utilize individualized and tailored care, in consideration of the specific needs and strengths of residents.
- Instruct, assist, and provide skill development to residents regarding daily living activities, life skills, social skills, vocational skills, and leisure/recreation skills and activities.
- Plan and lead educational and information groups for residents as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to design, implement, maintain, and evaluate individually tailored care plans for each resident.
- Interact professionally, cooperatively, and promptly with other team members in crisis situations.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with residents and actively support the program by participating in activities during scheduled shifts.
- Work to ensure effective communication among team members during and between shifts.
- Coordinate with school and staff regarding outside medical appointments and activities.
- Transport and attend medical appointments with residents
- Work with team members to create and contribute to a positive learning environment for all.
- Document and submit reports on all accidents, special treatment approaches, and extraordinary occurrences.
- Report unsafe conditions and needed repairs to shift supervisor, program manager, or safety officer.
- Actively seek, schedule, and participate in clinical supervision.
- Actively participate at in-service training and supervision activities.
- Utilize appropriate problem resolution activities and supervisory support when necessary to resolve conflicts.
- Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
- In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
- WA State Registered LPN. One-year work experience with children and/or adolescents. Experience or knowledge of psychotropic medications. Psychiatric experience, child development, milieu treatment, crisis intervention, and individual, group, and family counseling experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Washington State driver's license; proof of insurance.
