- Counselors with less than one year of experience in addiction treatment must work with their supervisor to achieve competency before providing independent counseling.
- Complete patient documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and other essential paperwork according to federal and state standards and agency policies.
- Orient patients to program objectives, rules, regulations, rights, and other important information.
- Assess and place patients based on treatment phases and agency policies.
- Update clinical documentation and patient charts as per established procedures.
- Counsel patients in crisis situations and address noncompliance with program requirements.
- Coordinate referrals to community resources when needed.
- Stay informed on regulations related to confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling.
- Submit correspondence to the supervisor for approval, conduct intakes, and facilitate group counseling sessions.
- Perform urine/swab drug screenings following proper procedures.
- Collect necessary patient documentation, submit reports, attend meetings, and complete training as required.
