Scope of Position:
Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects. Makes decisions independently based upon sound engineering and scientific methods. Actively participates within and beyond department boundaries to resolve important process and product issues. Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. Independently executes projects to fulfill department goals and objectives.
Project Responsibilities:
Leads, co-leads and supports attribute improvement projects, cost reduction projects or equipment upgradesAct as new equipment process/equipment receiver, clearly defining equipment acceptance criteria and communicating associated timelinesAct with urgency to close out assigned projects by deadlinesConsistently and effectively communicates issues and concerns to stakeholdersSeeks out peers/shop personnel to gain high level of process understanding, listens to their concerns and seeks resolution rapidly within the functional areaDay to
Day Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production and operations groupIdentify process improvement and cost reduction projects based on rigorous analysis of process dataThe engineer is expected to utilize the scientific method to develop, test, and prove hypothesesPrepare cost justifications and capital requests for any new equipment purchases that may be required to achieve project goalsInterface with operators, team leaders and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, or safety improvements into manufacturingOversee all aspects of bringing new equipment into production, including preparation of financial justification, designing, specifying, purchasing, as well as tracking all spending related to the projectDevelop maintenance and operator training documentation, conducting equipment qualification and initial training of production personnel, and making provisions for repair parts stocking levelsFormally document all aspects of the projectProvide processing support during product development, develop plans as to how the equipment/processes will be employed into production and ensure that the new technology is repeatable in a production environment prior to transfer Ensure all production and maintenance documentation is completed such as MI's, SOP's, PM's, and calibrationHours of work/work schedule:40+ hours Monday - Friday; typically 8:00AM - 5:00PMSupport for production days as requiredOccasional off-hour troubleshooting

Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Education and Experience:
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Plastics Engineering preferred)- 5 years related experience
Required Skills:
The ability to learn new technology and processes quicklyFamiliarity with IT architecture and systems to access necessary process dataAble to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutionsAbility to take routine data retrieval and analysis and develop a standard methodologyStrong working knowledge of statistical software packagesBasic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of plastic molding technologiesExperience programming PLCs in a manufacturing environmentThis position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $79, $109,996.00 assuming full time status.
Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
