A/C Mechanic II - Cherry Point, NC - New Bern, NC US (Primary)

The A/C Mechanic II performs a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including disassemble modifying repairing and reassembling complex aircraft metal items and systems such as bulkheads airframes spars air scoops wings flaps pylons sponsons fuselages skins ribs gussets and fuel tanks. Analyzes evaluates structural damage to metal systems and items; develops patterns using a combination of parallel radial line development; fabricates installs repairs a variety of items and systems made from metals such as stainless steel copper sheet magnesium honeycomb alloys aluminum replaces sections patches old systems cuts bends shapes forms metals for irregular angles planes curves with varying pitch circumference uses various assembly joints fastening riveted or welded joints drill punches holes assemble repairs by seaming soldering bolting screwing riveting tacking spot welding Assembly methods meet appearance strength standards critical tolerances adjusts repairs or replaces electrical wiring system conducts maintenance inspections performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft assists jacking towing of aircraft enters maintenance records description verifies work performed satisfactorily required keep aircraft safe operating condition Performs Collateral Duty Inspector CDI ensures all maintenance inspected accordance Naval Aviation Maintenance Program NAMP
