Department: Pharmacy - General

Location: Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours per Week

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Summary: Assist pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution while ensuring quality and accuracy. Pharmacy Technicians coordinate with co-workers and staff to fill patient medication orders correctly and promptly. Responsible for preparing medications following protocols and managing medication histories in health records.

Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service and timely phone responses
Assist in inventory count preparation and processing
Remove outdated products promptly
Alert manager to any issues
Maintain inventory levels
Oversee pharmaceutical inventory and assist with patient charges
Select correct medications and quantities
Restock medications accurately
Document charges and perform tasks efficiently
Deliver stock and troubleshoot machine issues
Perform inspections and prepare compounds as ordered
Follow hygiene and control procedures
Document accurately and restock returned medications
Review reports and assist in maintaining stock levels
Order supplies and restock work areas
Clean and organize medication storage areas
Document transactions and perform additional duties

Other Information: A pharmacy technician has specific tasks and responsibilities. Must hold an active Maine pharmacist technician license. Proficiency in computer use, especially with Microsoft Office, is required. Ability to adapt to different work situations and demonstrate system values. Prioritize workflow effectively and use critical thinking skills.
