- Conducts economic, demographic, and social research related to Georgia's current and future growth, including the writing of research reports (sometimes as sole author and sometimes as co-author).
- Responsible for research quality for large and small research projects, ensuring that performance goals are set and met.
- Plans and manages all aspects of large and small research projects, including research design, execution, analysis, writing draft and final reports, representing the Selig Center at meetings with clients, and making formal oral presentations of the research results/findings.
- Supervises and manages student workers (number varies as needed).
- Assists the Director of the Selig Center in writing grant/contract proposals for external funding, including research design, the allocation of staff and other resources, creating work schedules, and the formal budgeting of both direct and indirect project costs.
- Responsible for the identification of new research/contracts/grant opportunities, including meeting with potential clients.
- Makes written and oral presentations of research findings and insights to clients (sponsors), other researchers, the media, and other stakeholders.
- This always includes written reports, but sometimes includes speeches and press releases.
- Assists the Director of the Selig Center in the strategic planning of the research agenda to ensure the Selig Center's effectiveness in achieving its mission.
- Other miscellaneous duties as needed.
