    Sr.

    Finance Manager, R&D Portfolio

    will support strategic financial analyses across short-term planning, in addition to month-end close activities and reporting execution for R&D.

    The position requires strategy, planning, oversight, and cross functional partnership across planning cycles along with in-depth drug development finance knowledge.

    As Gilead continues to evolve, we have a need to create, execute and support thoughtfully structured processes for a successful month-end close and short-term planning cycles.

    This will ensure that we are prepared for Corporate deliverables and set up for effective business partnering with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Development Leadership Team (DLT).

    The role will report to the Sr Director, R&D Portfolio Finance, and will have an enterprise responsibility in being technically strong and partnering across multiple stakeholders within FP&A functions (R&D, PDM/Operations, Kite and Corporate).


    Core Responsibilities:
    Manage and lead the overall R&D Finance planning process encompassing budget, forecast, high level quarterly forecast updates and month-end close
    Independently drive cross-functional and Corporate deliverables for budget, forecast, and month end close cycles
    Provide strategic and elevated budget vs. actuals reporting across R&D functions for leadership reviews, taking into consideration an external reporting perspective for earnings

    Develop and review reports and presentations to be used for short-term planning review meetings, monthly management reporting for CMO/DLT and budget vs.

    actual variance analysis
    Lead short-term planning review meetings and drive discussions to understand portfolio overview and provide strategic insight
    Mentor, coach and collaborate with R&D Portfolio Finance Manager; ensure synergy and alignment between roles
    Technically strong with extracting and reporting data with financial reporting and planning ERP systems
    Provide ad-hoc analysis and lead projects as inquiries arise from Corporate FP&A, Legal, etc.

    Proactively recommend and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our reporting, analysis and planning cycle processes.


    Capabilities and Requirements:
    BS or BA is required, and an MBA or CPA is strongly preferred
    Minimum of 8 years of finance experience with increasing scope and responsibility, 6 years with an MBA.
    Management experience is a plus
    Prior experience in biotech or pharma in a commercial finance role is strongly preferred
    In-depth proficiency in aspects of accounting and finance and knowledge of US GAAP is required
    In depth knowledge of, Planning and ERP systems is required with proficiency in Microsoft tools
    Experience in high growth, multinational organization is a plus
    Relevant experience typically includes budget development, clinical development, or corporate finance within pharma industry.
    Familiarity with operational tools such as six-sigma, lean, and process mapping a plus
    Advanced certification (PMP, etc.) a plus.

    The salary range for this position is: $149, $193, Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

    These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.

    This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
