    Inova is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist,
    PRN to join our Radiology department to help expand our services in the Eastern Region of Northern Virginia for our brand-new Inova Oakville Ambulatory Center.

    We are opening a brand-new-state-of-the-art health care facility in Alexandria, VA.

    Located in the Potomac Yard neighborhood is an outpatient facility that will include a full-service emergency room, ambulatory surgery, imaging services, primary care and other medical offices.

    Responsibilities:


    Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations.

    Adheres to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation.
    Confidently operates radiological equipment in all care settings (i.e. fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency department and the Operating Room).
    Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding.
    Operates Imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturers' specifications.
    Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast under the American College of Radiology guidelines.
    Assists in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles.

    Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients' and/or patients' charts to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations.

    Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation. Correctly identifies patients and their files while ensuring a high degree of accuracy. Tracks patients according to department procedures.
    Assists physicians in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.

    Recognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.

    Education:
    Graduate of an accredited radiology school or program. Associates Degree preferred but not required.

    Experience:
    2 years combined classroom and clinical training in radiology. Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist/student

    Certification:
    BLS by the AHA; ARRT within 12 months of hire
