Accounting Manager - Charleston, United States - altafiber
Description
Assists with complex accounting tasks including researching, resolving, recording, and documenting technical accounting issues. Also, plays an integral role in the day-to-day month-end and year-end close process.Attendance is required in this position.
Essential Functions
Assist in month-end close and reconciliation process (25%)
Prepare and review routine month-end entries and schedules
Prepare and review various requests from internal and external auditors
Research various revenue and expense items during the month as needed
Lead process improvement projects surrounding the close and accounting processes
Cross-train and document accounting tasks and responsibilities
Lead monthly fixed asset process including setup of fixed assets and preparation of various schedules needed for monthly reporting; manage fixed assets requests from tax department and ensure requests are prepared timely (10%)
Provide analysis for the finance dept as needed (20%)
Manage/oversee AR and AP process and employees (25%)
Perform various accounting research, as well as prepare related accounting memos; other miscellaneous special projects as requested (20%)
Experience
6 to 7 years of experience
Education
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
CBA preferred
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, GAAP, internal controls, and accounting principals required
Ability to manage complex tasks with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills and effective time management required
Ability to work under tight deadlines and perform multiple tasks (including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end)
Intermediate to advanced skills level in excel, word-processing, and outlook
Knowledge of Great Plains software a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads work teams (assigns, coordinates, and checks work) for employees performing similar work
