    I - Job Purpose and Summary:


    The primary purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate a team of extrusion technicians and operators to produce safe, efficient, and cost effective ready to eat food products in line with PGPI's core values of Safety, Quality, Knowledge and Connections, Progression and Integrity.

    The core tasks of the job will be to lead the team thru end-to-end production which includes inventory management, mixing and blending, extrusion, drying and packing.

    The core competency of the role will ensure the on shift safety of people, products, the environment and the community.

    The role will also oversee the adherence to the product quality standards and lead a continuous improvement mindset throughout the shift team across the balance score card.


    II - Key Accountabilities:

    HSE:


    Promote a safe work environment at all times through the adherence to all PGPI's Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as to all relevant OSHA regulations in order to achieve ZERO workplace incidents and injuries.

    Conducts and carry out incident investigations, safety audits and training for self and for shift team, and generates and implements Continuous Improvement projects to reduce HSE risk at PGPI, all in accordance to with PGPI procedures

    Quality & Food Safety:
    Continuously monitor, promote, and improve the culture of food safety and product quality on shift. The role will oversee the adherence to and improvement of PGPI GMP's standards and best practice.

    The role will ensure the team will meet and exceed food safety, authenticity, legality and quality of the products including food defense and sanitation processes in accordance with PGPI procedures.

    The role will ensure any risk to food safety, any deviation of product standards and any non-adherence to GMP's will be promptly reported, documented, and corrected within on shift scope.


    Production:


    The role will lead the production team to complete the weekly schedule adhering to the standard run rates for the most cost-effective way.

    The role will ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, raw material and packaging.

    The role will also ensure the timely on shift reporting of raw material consumption, packaging usage, location movements and finished goods reporting via the use of the internal ERP system.

    Any non-adherence to system KPI's are escalated and reported immediately.

    The role facilitates continuous improvement mentality in the shift, ensuring problems and solutions are brought to light and acted upon.


    Personnel Management:
    The role will manage all personnel on shift regarding absence, disciplinary, training and recruitment in accordance with PGPI's procedures.

    Regarding training, the role will ensure all new and current team members are up to date, refreshed and continuously adhering to the training.

    The team will be continuously coached mentored, and feedback provided on any developmental areas or performance related gap closing that is required.

    The role will provide feedback and development conversations with team members will be conducted on a regular one to one basis and these will be documented.

    The role will continuously monture the team's and employee performance in line with the employee handbook.

    Continuous Improvement:


    Continuously monitor the balanced score card metrics for the shift, suggest and improves new ideas and processes in the areas of HSE, Quality, Performance, Waste, and People.

    • Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):
    Education

    Bachelor's degree in engineering, science(s), operations or supply chain management, or any technical related similar degree.

    Related Experience
    Food manufacturing (preferred)
    Management and leadership of a team >10 people (preferred)
    Extrusion or Bakery Manufacturing experience (preferred)
    FMCG (desirable)

    V - Work/Employment Conditions and Other Requirements:

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses manufacturing equipment. The environment is hot, cold, wet, dusty, and loud.

    Must be able to wear personal protective equipment on the manufacturing floor (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, beard/hair nets, safety shoes).

    Physical and Sensory Demands


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms overhead and grip; climb stairs, work from heights up to 40 feet; talk or hear.

    The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 55 pounds.

    Position Type and Working Schedule

    RFT - Regular Full Time, working schedule based, flexible to business needs.

    Travel Requirements

    Occasional travel to head office, other ABF sites and training locations throughout USA.
