    Responsible for assisting physicians in their medical practice by providing technical assistance and care to patients who are chronically or acutely ill.

    Responsible for performing podiatry related imaging procedures and maintaining safety protocols. Works under supervision to assist in restoring or maintaining patients at a maximum level of health. Participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

    *Commits to the KRMC mission, vision, values and goals and consistently demonstrates our core values.
    *Provides technical nursing care through interviews, assessments and vital signs.
    *Administers medications topically, orally and by injection as ordered by the physician.
    *Administers treatments within his/her scope of practice as ordered by the physician.
    Assists physicians with examinations and procedures as needed. Prepares patients for procedures per protocol.
    *Arranges diagnostic procedures. Obtains prior authorizations.
    Participates in obtaining and meeting quality measures.
    May assist physician with minor surgery. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
    Answers telephone. Responds to patient concerns or questions and intervenes to solve patient problems.
    Maintains appropriate records, assists with coding and patient charges.
    Collects and properly disposes of selected specimens.
    Provides appropriate education to patients/families.
    Assists with filling and refilling prescriptions per doctors orders.
    Cooperates with other personnel to maintain good employee and public relations.
    Informs supervisor or clinic Director of concerns or problems.
    Maintains a clean, safe patient environment.

    Monitors equipment to be sure it is in proper working condition to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and unnecessary radiation to patients.

    Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
    Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

    Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

    Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
    Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination, documents and deviation.
    Interacts professionally with patient/family.
    Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instruction.

    Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

    Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
    Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required.


    Completion of self-study of a Nebraska limited podiatric radiology technologist program required or completion of the extremities testing of an LRT required.

    Current registration with the State of Nebraska as a Limited Podiatric Radiographer or LRT with completion of the extremities testing to perform complete foot and ankle x-rays required.
