Department Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine - College of Medicine
Responsibilities This position will be responsible for assisting the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Director, with all contract negotiations with the Florida Department of Health (DOH).
Monitors the FSU College of Medicine (COM) budget, subcontractor budgets, invoices from subcontractors, and reports program and financial quarterly data as specified in the DOH contract.
Plans, implements, and monitors work performed by AHEC staff to ensure contract compliance and meet annual deliverables.Establishes partnerships with the Florida Council for Community Mental Health (FCCMH) and the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (FADAA) and/ or similar statewide associations for assistance in recruiting behavioral healthcare organizations for participation in the FSU COM AHEC tobacco program.
Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a "learning collaborative" for behavioral healthcare organization leaders. Travels to behavioral health organizations to establish partnerships, deliver on-site technical assistance, gather survey data, and implement tobacco policies.Provides guidance to assist behavioral health organizations with rapid improvement goals, delivers technical assistance, monitors progress towards goals and develops draft and final individual and aggregate progress reports for learning collaborative members.
Provides regional and state-wide training in tobacco policy and cessation services for employees of behavioral health organizations. Develops specific training curricula. Functions as liaison with local AHECs.Directs the nationally accredited Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Foundation course, multi-session group cessation facilitator training and the annual statewide recertification conference or webinar series for Tobacco Treatment Specialist re-certification.
Designs and monitors all TTS foundation course evaluations and submits the annual report to ATTUD, the accreditation organization. Assists the AHEC Director with monitoring TTS course compliance with all accreditation standards and meeting all requirements for re-accreditation. Serves as a subject matter expert and core faculty member for specific training modules within the TTS course.Serves as immediate supervisor to the AHEC Tobacco Program Manager and a minimum of one AHEC Coordinator. Supports the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine work in the area of health disparities and rural health. Develops and conducts training for medical and other health professions students. Manages data reporting activities for FSU program data. Ensures AHEC professional staff is collecting and submitting data in compliance with terms of the DOH contract. Coordinates staff responsible entering data and monitors data for accuracy and timeliness.
This position provides oversight of academic and programmatic support for all elements of the contract and grant within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six years experience related to health and human services; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to compile printing materials and visual aids for training.Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to make purchasing decisions based on independent research and judgment.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Knowledge of available medical resources and terminology.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, policies, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.
Knowledge of the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within medical, health, human services, and counseling programs.
