    Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay.

    There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county:
    Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

    Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days/hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.


    All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.

    Physician will provide on-site psychiatric, and to some extent, medical services. Physician will admit, evaluate, treat patients. Physician will enter required assessment, treatment, and discharge planning documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Physician will enter medication orders on the WinPharm pharmacy system. Physician will actively participate in the individualized multidisciplinary treatment process and discharge planning. Physician will participate in hospital wide performance improvement activities and other medical staff functions as assigned. Physician will prepare court reports in collaboration with the treatment team and will attend court hearings as expert witness.


    The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques.

    Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.



    Qualifications:

    Minimum

    Qualifications:


    • Completion of medical school training.
    • Completion of residency in Psychiatry in an approved training program, or at least two years of an approved residency training program.
    • Current active medical license in Kansas.
    • Knowledge and experience in the use of psychiatric and medical medications.
    • Ability to work with other physicians and other hospital staff.
    • Ability to utilize technical skills such as typing, use of Dragon dictation.


    Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services.

    Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
