    Under the supervision of the EP Lab Clinical Coordinator and the direction of a cardiologist, the EP Technologist performs three roles: 1.

    The EP Technologist sets up and operates specialized equipment to include:
    a physiological data recording system and related computers, programmable stimulators, mapping system, various generators for ablation procedures. 2.

    The EP Technologist assists Cardiac Electrophysiologists in the performance of EP Lab procedures by:

    analyzing electrocardiograph data, perform program stimulation of the heart, induce and terminate cardiac arrhythmia by overdrive pacing or DC cardio version, apply energy to catheters for purposes of arrhythmia ablation, create 3D maps of cardiac chambers to evaluate electrical conduction of tachycardias, enters resulting procedural data into the Cardiovascular programs clinical database.

    3.The EP Technologist assists Cardiac Electrophysiologists and Cardiologists in the performance of invasive procedures related to intra-cardiac defibrillators and pacemakers, sets up sterile table, assists in the application of sterile drapes, hands sterile instruments and sutures to the physician during the procedure, performs after-care of surgical instruments.

    May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.*Call Required*Job Specific Duties 1.1 Demonstrates competency in patient care for adolescents, adult and geriatric patients.1.2 Explains how a procedure is performed, and prepares patient for testing as indicated by per case documentation in paperwork and observation.1.3 Interprets and recognizes significant electrocardiogram and hemodynamic changes and communicates them to team members indicated by no physician complaints, cardioverts patients when necessary, and documents changes in case reports.1.4 Maintains and calibrates all equipment necessary for each procedure as indicated by completed accurate paperwork for each case.1.5 Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on instruments and other equipment used as assigned, as indicated by logbooks.1.6 Maintains accurately, all records and charts of all procedures performed.

    Paperwork completed and placed in chart 95% of the time as indicated by no physician complaints of missing paperwork.1.7 Orders and maintains supplies assigned responsibility for as indicated by no complaints of shortages of supplies.1.8 Orders and maintains supplies assigned responsibility for as indicated by no complaints of shortages of supplies.1.9 Sets up procedure trays and room equipment prior to cases.1.10 Operates recording equipment such as Prucka, Bard EP Lab, Biosense , ESI, and computer systems, and other related computers as indicated by correctly recording documented hard copy paperwork/information of each case.1.11 Performs program stimulation and RF/Cryo ablation as requested by the physician, and documents the results of these procedures.


    Qualifications Experience in the following:
    1 year previous experience as an EP or Cath Lab TechLicensure: BLS-CPRACLSRCES, Registered EP Specialist
