    Kinnetic Environmental, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Environmental Scientist in our Los Alamitos, California office. This is a full-time, salaried position with a mixture of fieldwork and office work for projects primarily located within Los Angeles County. The selected experienced candidate will work closely with Project Team Members on water quality monitoring, stormwater monitoring and planning, and sediment sampling projects in the Southern California region.     Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to):

    • Conduct environmental monitoring, such as stormwater sampling, sediment sampling, soil sampling, surface water sampling, surveys of outfalls, and in-situ flow and water quality measurements.
    • Perform detailed field observations and documentation.
    • Assist with the review, analysis, and reporting of collected field data.
    • Lead field teams and mentor entry-level staff.
    • Perform project site maintenance, which may include troubleshooting, cleaning, repairing, installing, or replacing stormwater collection field equipment.
    • Maintenance, calibration, and inventory of in-house equipment.
    • Effectively and regularly communicate the status of assignments to the Project Manager.

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • B.S. (or higher) in Environmental Science, Water Resource Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, or other similar science field.
    • 2-6 years of work experience in the environmental science field (entry-level candidates will not be considered).
    • Experience with conducting environmental monitoring, such as sediment and/or soil sample collection, stormwater monitoring or other water quality monitoring.
    • Experience with leading field crews on projects.
    • Experience with automated stormwater monitoring equipment is not required, but highly preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills along with basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • The ability to perform work independently or as part of a team, with minimal training and supervision.
    • The ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Can proactively and independently take on new assignments.
    • The ability to safely work in various environments or weather conditions, such as in confined spaces, on boats, at heights, and/or during inclement weather.
    • The availability to travel for projects located within the state, or locally with overnight hotel stays.
    • Must be on call for stormwater monitoring from October 1 to April 30, which may occur during nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs overhead.
    • Valid U.S. driver's license and a good driving record.
