Under direct supervision, the Recreation Services Leader is responsible for the promotion, registration, and customer service for all athletic programs within the City of Savannah.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs consistent and professional customer service for Leisure Services patrons and community; responds to program inquiries, provides registration guidance and direction, and promotes Athletic programs.
- Manages, monitors, updates, and sets the Athletic facility program calendar; sets up leagues and clinics, changes seasonal programs, and ensures that all programs are organized to run smoothly.
- Manages, supports, and assists with youth and adult athletic programs and participants; creates informational documents for our participants regarding dates, activities, and requirements.
- Implements precautions to ensure the safety of leisure services participants and spectators. Provides first aid in cases of minor injuries.
- Resolves problems and conflicts among participants.
- Issues and collects equipment and supplies from participants.
- Maintains activity and attendance records of participants during functions.
- Enforces rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with one year of experience as a volunteer or paid leader; or any equivalent combination or education, training, and experience. Six (6) months to a year of experience as a volunteer or paid leader for those 18 years old and up.
A valid driver's license is desired.
First Aid/CPR certification Desired but not required.

Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

- Knowledge of Customer service and engaging with community members to direct them to the appropriate program or service.

MINIMUM STANDARDS:
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Athletic Administrator, the Leisure Services Supervisor, and the Program Coordinator assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include city and department policies and procedures and guidelines for a variety of athletic and recreational activities. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related duties connected to organizing and leading participants in a variety of athletic and recreational activities. Inclement weather, unavailability of necessary equipment or supplies, and transportation problems contributes to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to organize and lead participants in a variety of Athletic recreational activities. Successful performance helps ensure the provision of a variety of athletic and recreational activities for the citizens of the city of Savannah.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, vendors, association representatives, representatives of other recreational agencies, social services personnel, school personnel, recreational officials, and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, and resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an computer room, stockroom, gymnasium, or outdoors where the employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves
