    The Medication Technician (Certified Pharmacy Technician or Certified Medical Assistant) helps with the operation of the CCAY Lynx inventory which includes assisting with inventory control, stocking, cleaning, and assisting with hazardous medications in the compounding room.

    What you will be doing....

    • Coordinates drug inventory by unpacking, accurately stocking, restocking and transferring drugs within Lynx.
    • Completes daily and monthly full inventory audits of all drugs including emergency cart medications. Supplies Clinical Pharmacist with list of any discrepancies.
    • Assists mixing RN by pulling medication from Lynx cabinet and verifying they are the correct drug vials queued and approved on drug order in the electronic medical record.
    • Assists mixer by unpacking drug from vial, preparing supplies to mix and any dilution needs.
    • Ensures adequate supplies in chemotherapy clean room and mixing area by restocking medications, diluents, syringes, needles, gowns, gloves, shoe and hair covers.
    • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized Lynx storage cabinet and refrigerator; this includes daily monitoring of refrigerator temperature.
    • Follows hazardous guidelines to ensure the daily cleaning of the compounding room; this includes disinfecting countertops, hazardous buckets, keyboards and floor.
    • Reviews next day schedule for any add on patients that need to be queued for ordering purposes and communicates with Clinical Pharmacist.
    • Reviews and clears patient queue for patients that were not treated or treatment was held and discusses with Clinical Pharmacist.
    • Responsible for contacting drug companies when a drug has expired and following reimbursement protocol.
    • Prepares daily and monthly Inventory Reserve Reports for Practice Administrator.
    • Receives, enters and stocks Patient Assistance Program medication drugs into inventory as directed by Billing Manager.
    • Maintains updated list of all hazardous drugs and their corresponding Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS).
    • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
    • Complies with all practice policies and procedures including CCAY's Code of Conduct.
    • Performs other duties as required by the Clinical Pharmacist.
    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Graduate of Certified Medical Assistant Program or Associates Degree in related medical field or equivalent
    • Medical Assistant or Pharmacy Technician Certification or equivalent, must be maintained

    Preferred Job-Related Experience:

    • One (1) year experience in a retail pharmacy with dispensing experience and inventory management.
    • Exposure to medical terminology
    • Proficient with operation of computers and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Basic knowledge of insurance plans and billing.
