    Job Description

    Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.

    CBH is currently recruiting for a Psychiatrist to work In concert with the Medical Team , provides agency wide clinical psychiatric services and consultation, and medical support to all mental health, developmental disabilities and substance use programs and services.

    Job Duties

    This is a licensed physician with a completion of an approved psychiatric residency. Work involves the diagnosis of complex psychiatric/medical conditions and the independent formulation of plans of treatment often including prescription of powerful psychotropic medications. Work involves treatment of a diverse psychiatric population, including persons with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, chemical dependency and those with a co-occurring disorder. The client population includes adults and the geriatric. Application of complex psychiatric and medical evaluation and judgment is required in determining treatment protocols to achieve clinical objectives. The employee is responsible for facilitating quality psychiatric care throughout the agency. Responsibilities may include crisis intervention which requires rapid access to the psychiatrist, rapid assessment, diagnosis and clinical intervention often under imminent life threatening conditions.

    Experience in geriatric services a plus. Possess medical degree and completion of approved residency in psychiatry and is licensed to practice in Commonwealth of Virginia
