YCD takes a holistic approach via a delivery eco-system of services designed to empower residents in achieving economic mobility, in turn building and sustaining a positive community by providing them with education opportunities, workforce development training, and social services. Each year YCD provides around 1,200 community members with employment and training services through their programs and partnerships. POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Neighborhood Job Center (NJC) Program Manager, the Care Coordinator will play a key role in empowering individuals to achieve their employment and career goals. This position is responsible for providing career counseling, job placement assistance, and individualized support to program participants. The Care Coordinator will facilitate job readiness workshops, establish partnerships with employers and training providers, and coordinate community engagement efforts to connect job seekers with sustainable career pathways. Additionally, the role involves case management, providing barrier removal services, and ensuring compliance with program requirements through accurate data tracking and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Career Counseling / Job Placement
- Provide career, vocational, and employment counseling, and assist in the development of an Individual Employment Plan by determining the participant's career interests, qualifications, and transferable skills.
- Provide job search and placement assistance to program participants as they pertain to the local job market, assist in setting and reaching appropriate employment objectives. Identify appropriate training plans and referrals as needed.
- Assist clients in identifying appropriate short and long-term employment objectives, map out strategies for reaching employment objectives, provide corresponding job development, and support clients throughout job search. Make appropriate training plans and referrals as needed.
- Establish and maintain temporary, full-time, part-time, and other job opportunities.
Education & Training
- Lead job readiness training, pre-employment assessment, and job search workshops tailored specifically for participant needs. Workshops will cover soft skills, completing employment applications, interviewing skills, networking skills, and effective workplace communication.
- Collect workshop surveys and assessments to track and report on participant satisfaction and skills gains.
- Attend collaborative team meetings to assess topics, participant progress, pedagogical strategies, and progress toward outcomes. Participate in professional development training and workshop facilitation meetings.
Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, residents, and members including Hope SF sites.
- Coordinate and execute outreach strategies such as job fairs, employer/sector spotlights, and community resource events
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses and employers to ensure successful partnerships to connect job seekers with sustainable employment opportunities and career pathways.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, update labor market information, and inform participants of emerging opportunities.
- Maintain contact with local colleges, institutions, apprenticeships, and other workforce organizations.
- Collaborate with Care Coordinators to support special initiatives.
Career Coordination & Client Support
- Provide case management by coordinating short-term and long-term support services as necessary. Examples include counseling, crisis intervention, childcare, transportation, health & wellness services, and employment workshops.
- Provide individualized services to prepare individuals for effective work. This includes barrier removal services to address the specific needs of clients.
- Conduct assessments, create case files, and provide ongoing support and follow-up services to ensure participants achieve their employment goals.
- Coordinate with other employers and other workforce partners to ensure effective referrals and supportive services for clients.
Program Administration
- Ensure compliance with agency, funder, and governmental reporting requirements.
- Properly collect and accurately report data on programs and services to assess progress and outcomes in a timely manner, across all required internal and external platforms
- Maintain accurate case records, program data, and other statistical records as needed to comply with monitoring visits and annual contractual audits.
- Participates in all required meetings and training to ensure compliance with funder and YCD requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
A successful candidate will possess:
- B.A./B.S. degree in a related field. Four years of related experience will be considered in lieu of the B.A./B.S. degree requirement.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Experience in staffing, recruiting, employment coaching, job development, or other relevant/transferable work experience.
- Proven and demonstrated track record of establishing and building trusting relationships with marginalized/underserved community residents.
- Understand and embrace YCD's holistic service-delivery model.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking, written communications, patience, diplomacy, and a high level of customer service skills.
- Self-motivated individual who has a passion to ensure that program goals, objectives and tasks are completed in a timely fashion and exceeds standards.
- An efficient multi-tasker who demonstrates effective time management and the capacity to meet competing deadlines.
- Must have proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commitment to the mission of Young Community Developers Inc. and to individuals from diverse populations
- Well organized, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet goal objectives; excellent team player. True attention to detail, ability to complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Continuous commitment to improve occupational knowledge
- Demonstrate competency with using Microsoft Office Suite, Google platform, SalesForce, Zoom and other technology platforms.
