- Answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; maintains log of inquiries as required.
- Performs a variety of routine typing assignments as appropriate to the position including medical transcription, operates a computer to draft correspondence, enter data and print letters, labels, reports and/or other materials; types and mails correspondence.
- May perform specialized services of a routine clerical/administrative nature in strict accordance with established procedural guidelines, as appropriate to the position.
- Schedules patients and physicians for office visits, radiation treatment, chemotherapy infusion treatment and nurse practitioner follow ups.
- Coordinates with health care team to provide patient care, treatment and services.
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- When scheduling patient appointment, carefully screens patients for new address, new patient visit or update registration. Inputs information into scheduling system.
- Performs day-to-day scheduling functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in a private physician's office or group practice preferred.
- Previous experience as a receptionist and/or scheduler for a medical office is preferred.
- Must have current BLS or obtain within 60 days of hire and must maintain BLS throughout employment with IMH.
- Proficient in the operation of basic office equipment including phone system, fax machine, copy machine, computer, etc.
- Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate effective listening skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
