    What You'll Be Doing:

    Microscopic Marvels: Dive into the world of tissue preparation for microscopic review. Your skilled hands will transform specimens into works of scientific art.

    Stain Sorcery: Master the art of staining slides with special dyes, including the magical immunohistochemistry techniques. Your slides will reveal secrets that only you can unlock.

    Lab Wizardry: Wave your wand (or pipette) to maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it hums with efficiency. Quality control records? You'll have them covered.

    Cleanliness Enchantments: Keep our lab sparkling A tidy workspace is essential for scientific breakthroughs.

    Histology Quests: Embark on routine histology tasks—embedding, sectioning, and staining. Whether it's routine, tinctorial, or immunohistochemistry, you'll be the hero of the slide.

    Frozen Expeditions: Prepare surgical frozen sections like a seasoned explorer. Moh's sections? You'll conquer them too.

    Surgical Sleuthing: Unravel the mysteries of biopsies and uncomplicated surgical specimens through gross dissection. Your scalpel is your trusty sidekick.

    Specimen Adventures: Accession and process surgical and biopsy specimens. Each one holds a story waiting to be told.

    Laboratory Alchemy: Perform simple and complex laboratory tests with finesse. Timeliness is your superpower.

    Special Tasks: Channel your inner sorcerer with special immunohistochemistry antibody evaluations. Assist our esteemed MD faculty and fellows during post-mortem autopsies—they'll be in awe of your expertise.

    License Requirement
    1. License to practice as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
    2. Eligibility for licensure as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.

    Education and Experience
    1. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time Histology experience including the performance of immunohistochemistry, frozen section or grossing biopsy/surgical specimens; or
    2. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and completion of a Histological Technician Certificate program recognized by New York State for licensure exam eligibility and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time Histology experience including the performance of immunohistochemistry, frozen section or grossing biopsy/surgical specimens; or
    3. Associate's degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a Histotechnologist II at Roswell Park;.

    NOTE:
    1. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Desired Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate:

    • Proficiency in cryostat sectioning of fresh tissues.
    • Familiarity with Moh's Micrographic Surgery.
    • Experience in postmortem examination.
    • Competence in small, noncomplex biopsy grossing.
    • Knowledge of standard histology procedures, including sectioning and staining.
    • Familiarity with Cerner or relevant LIS systems.
    • Possession of New York State ASCP licensure.
