    Meet our team

    You will be joining AI/Model Risk Management Team within Enterprise Financial Risk Oversight unit, focusing on, but not limited to, independent quantitative model validation of high impact AI/models used firmwide. You will play a critical role in ensuring best in class model development, safe adoption and responsible AI uses, following regulatory guidance/requirements and best industry practices.

    You will help research and develop responsible AI policies and effective governance practices, identify enhancement opportunities through model validation, communicate to model owners and developers, and ensure timely remediation. Your work will help ensure compliance with requirements from various regulatory agencies and external audits, better customer services.

    Your day to day

    In your day to day role you will

    • Support the lead in providing oversight of high-impact statistical models and AI applications in various business functional areas, with ability to research and develop Responsible AI and Generative AI specific governance framework and best practice for business adoption
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative model validation in line with internal Model Risk Management Policy and industry standard to identify and report issues arising from model data, model design and model use, provide subject-matter expert opinion on model enhancement
    • Collaborate with business units and model developers to ensure model issues are agreed and remediated timely

    What do you need to bring-

    This position requires the curiosity and ability to research, learn, and apply advanced technical and non-technic skills related to AI/model. This role also requires candidate to have the capability in building effective relationship with stakeholders from various teams such as data, privacy, legal, security, data science, engineering, product, compliance, audit.

    • An advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, econometrics, finance, mathematics, computer science, data science, engineering, business
    • Advanced machine learning model development experience
    • 0-3 years of experience preferred
    • Ability to research on latest AI/ML advancements and regulatory evolvement, interpret and translate regulation, in its draft or final form, into AI/model development, use and monitoring requirements, and incorporate properly into Responsible AI framework and policy implementation.
    • Ability to perform model and AI risk governance related activities in line with enterprise risk framework, to ensure PayPal's AI applications are compliant with ever evolving regulatory expectation such as Responsible AI.
    • Ability to maintain both technical and policy documentation
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment and deliver timely
    • Ability to communicate and present effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels
