    Position Summary

    The Department of Natural Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a full-time lecturer position in Chemistry. The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated lecturer who is committed to innovative teaching. Prospective candidates must have earned a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field. The successful candidate(s) is/are expected to teach a variety of laboratory courses in the field of Chemistry in Beirut campus. Research engagement is not expected.

    Responsibilities

    • Teach undergraduate laboratories in chemistry
    • Coordinate multi-section laboratory courses
    • Oversee the section-to-section standards of delivery of labs
    • Receive feedback about laboratory experiments from individual instructors/students with the task to find section-wide solutions
    • Ongoing review, testing of procedures, testing for section-to-section consistency, and updating of lab experiments
    • Oversee implementation and adherence to safety protocols
    • Act as communication liaison between lab assistants, lab supervisor, instructors, students, and course coordinators.
    • Follow up with the lab supervisor to prepare the list of glassware, chemicals and equipment needed for the undergraduate teaching labs
    • Develop curriculum and teaching/laboratory facilities
    • Engage innovation in teaching laboratory courses

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field from a recognized institution
    • Evidence of successful university teaching

    The Department:

    The Department of Natural Sciences is one of the five departments of the School of Arts and Sciences at LAU. It offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, a B.S. in Chemistry, a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program (CP), and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Biological Sciences with additional programs upcoming in the near future.
