    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities



    Iridium is seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) who will be the technical authority responsible for the entire life cycle and evolution of our CERTUS service. This will include responsibilities for all supporting products & services which comprise the CERTUS ecosphere. As the CERTUS SE you will act as the Product Owner (within the context of the SAFe model) by being a key contributor to the CERTUS vision & roadmap, supporting the ART in delivering value to the CERTUS customers, maintaining communication with the Line of Business teams and managing the CERTUS IPT team backlog. In this role, you will work with technology leaders who are subject matter experts for the network elements, as well as senior management in engineering, operations, lines of business and finance to develop and align the CERTUS roadmap.

    What You'll Do:

      Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert of the end-to-end CERTUS service
    • Build a deep and broad understanding of the CERTUS service, including CERTUS network components, interfaces and supporting services
    • Support the CERTUS team in the practice and implementation of CI/CD as well as SAFe/AGILE practices
    • Work closely with key stakeholders, segments and sub-contractors to ensure that the development remains on-track and delivers a high quality product
    • Manage the CERTUS backlog
    • Manage CERTUS feature and defect backlog
    • Ensure that required system analysis and trade studies are performed as well as analyzing multiple data sources to respond to frequent, complex, and high impact situations
    • Ensure that all applicable Iridium SE processes are implemented and followed in managing the CERTUS products

    What You'll Need to Succeed:

    • The ability to confidently drive discussions, raise support for key ideas, and tailor your communication style to a wide range of audiences
    • The creativity, resourcefulness, and decisiveness needed to manage risks and respond to critical situations
    • Experience in addressing the different elements of the service lifecycle of complex communications and/or space-based systems
    • Experience in SAFe/AGILE practices
    • Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
    • The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations



    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO



    Things You Must Bring to the Table::

    • BS or MS degree in engineering or related technical field
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in the Satellite industry
    • Experience working with software and hardware development, systems engineering practices and integration of COTS equipment, COTS software and customer software for specialized applications
    • Familiarity with Atlassian Tool Suite such as JIRA and R4J and Confluence
    • The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations
    • Working knowledge of implementing solutions in AWS

    We'll Also Need You To:

    • Be willing and able to travel up to 25 %
    • Due to ITAR, US Citizenship is required

    Work Environment:

    This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
