This is a cyclic position scheduled to work full-time September through June and half-time July and August each year. This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules.Position Purpose Provide mental health triage, consultation, counseling, assessment, referral, and brief, solution-focused therapy for a diverse population of students.
Provide support and direction for a variety of Student Wellness Services initiatives related to holistic development and well-being, including self-care and self-management of conditions commonly affecting college students, such as stress, anxiety, and depression.
Facilitate groups and workshops directed to help students elevate and maintain a practice of well-being, including use of techniques, such as mindfulness and Eco Therapy, how to avoid negative consequences associated with alcohol and other drug use, or other dysfunctional/destructive coping mechanisms.
The incumbent participates in the selection, training, and supervision of student counseling interns.Nature and Scope This position is a member of an interdisciplinary team of medical and counseling professionals and reports directly to the Director for Student Wellness, Recreation, & Athleticsand consults with the Consultant Psychologist regularly at team meetings.
The incumbent also works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff, as well as the off-campus community to support a diverse student population in the context of pursuing higher education and degree attainment.
Essential Functions Facilitate successful learning and development of students through the provision of mental health support in the form of psychoeducational groups and workshops, evaluation, assessment, and referral for a range of mental health conditions and, where appropriate, individual and group counseling.
Develop and deliver campus-wide education and prevention programs with the specific aim of reducing negative consequences associated with depression, anxiety, and alcohol and drug use, particularly among first year students, students in the residence halls, and student athletes.
Participate in developing and promoting a variety of Student Wellness Services initiatives designed to positively impact the health, retention, and success of students.
Employ a range of strategies to facilitate access to Student Wellness Services to address the diverse needs of various identity groups on campus; strategies designed to reduce barriers and increase access to care, including outreach, or satellite work, offering services in no
