- One year of Human Services related experience, or;
- Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency, or;
- Two years of Human Services related experience, or;
- One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
- Knowledge or experience with crisis intervention, conflict resolution techniques, or behavior management techniques.
- Experience conducting investigations and/or formal reviews to assess compliance with standards, policies, regulations, or laws.
- Experience using plain language to define and explain complex rules and guidelines.
- Experience formulating documents or reports that include a conclusion and recommended action.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with community partners and organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with families under challenging and time-sensitive circumstances.
- Experience working with diverse communities with a demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, equity, and antiracism.
- Knowledge of intersectionality and how the roots of systemic oppression impact all protected classes.
- Play a critical role in helping families achieve their goals while cohesively ensuring the safety of children.
- Engage with children, families, resource parents and caregivers in a multitude of ways to achieve the safety, permanency and optimal outcomes for Oregon's children and families. All engagement will be conducted through a trauma-informed and antiracist lens.
- Develop and implement multifaceted strategies that build on family strengths and address areas of improvement.
- Conduct home visits, write reports, attend court hearings, and problem-solve minor crises to major child safety issues.
- Play an imperative role in balancing the needs of the child and the family in conjunction with legal requirements.
- Have a unique opportunity to build rapport with families, understand their uniqueness, and learn more about how each family functions.
- Your work will be conducted in a hybrid format that includes community work, office work, and some work that can be conducted remotely.
- You will have required travel for day-to-day work in the community and around Josephine County. You may also have required travel for the purpose of attending trainings.
- Your hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional compensated overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.
- You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
- You may walk into stressful situations that require quick decision-making skills to ensure safety of those being serviced and your own physical safety. This may also be trauma inducing.
