Senior Network Engineer SME (Palo Alto)

Houston,TX(Must be onsite in Houston for 2 days/week)

6+Month Contract

As the Senior Network Engineer SME (Palo Alto),

you will be a pivotal member of our global corporate network team, specializing in Palo Alto firewalls and network security solutions.

Your hands-on involvement will extend to designing and implementing various network security architectures, primarily centered around Palo Alto firewalls.

In this role, you'll actively contribute to the development of network security requirements, regulatory compliance efforts, and information security policies.

Responsibilities:
Expertise in Palo Alto Firewalls, with hands-on experience in deploying them in AWS and Azure environments.

Architect and engineer DMZ security for Internet-facing web applications and implement network segmentation for non-prod and production environments.

Mentor other Network Engineers in security best practices and act as a point of contact for escalations from engineering and ops teams.

Ensure adherence to firewall standards, conduct rule cleanup, and collaborate with security teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities and risks.

Stay updated on new cloud and automation developments, evaluate alternative approaches, and recommend enhancements.

Identify opportunities to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, performance, and overall service within the distributed computing environment.

Requirements:

7-10 years of experience in managing various network architectures.

5+ years of experience with Palo Alto firewalls and securing Internet-facing applications.

3+ years of experience in Public Cloud technologies, specifically AWS and Microsoft Azure, focusing on networking and security solutions.

5+ years of technical experience with network security technologies (e.g., Firewalls, proxy, network segmentation).

Proficiency in routing protocols BGP and OSPF.


Preferred Skills:
Experience in DevOps scripting and automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).

Understanding of Openshift, Docker, and Kubernetes container environments.

Familiarity with DLP, WAF, DDOS, IPS/IDS.

Experience with Palo Cloud, SOAR, Twistlock, Redlock, and Prisma Access.

Knowledge of various endpoint security solutions.

Information Technology/Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Information Technology/Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP).

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science.
