    **Description**

    **Job Summary**

    Provides general cleaning of assigned facilities in accordance with Agency an/or contract specifications.

    **Rate of Pay**: 14.28 per hour 4.22 Health and welfare

    **Schedule:** 3 hour shift, 5 days per week; 9AM-12PM

    **Work Location: Burlington Federal Building**

    **Will the person work independently or part of Team:** Custodian will work independently

    **Duties and Responsibilities**

    Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.

    Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.

    Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

    Communicates with supervisor regularly

    **Minimum Job Requirements**

    Less than high school; no previous experience required.

    Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

    **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required**

    Ability to understand verbal instructions.

    Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

    Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.

    Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

    Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

    Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

    Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

    Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

    **Distinguishing Characteristics**

    Position requires: a) regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms; b) routine maintenance to custodial equipment; and c) use of power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets.

    **Conditions of Employment**

    Must meet program eligibility requirements

    Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

    Must pass a government background so to acquire naval access badge.

    **Working Conditions and Physical Effort**

    Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.

    Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

    Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
