PACCAR has an exciting Occupational Health and Safety summer internship opening at our PACCAR Technical Center in Mt. Vernon, WA.

The selected candidate will work directly with Safety Professionals, gaining real-life experience in multiple Safety Functions As a Safety Intern you will:

Learn first-hand from top industry professionals
Work directly with front-line Supervisors and Managers
Develop mentoring relationships with Safety Leaders
Gain valuable hands-on experience

Job Functions / Responsibilities

With the Safety Manager's direction, develop a Respiratory Protection Program for voluntary use, including selection of respirators, fit testing, medical clearances, etc,
Inventory fall protection equipment, develop, and maintain fall protection inspection database that includes all fall protection used across the facility.
Review\update inventory of all confined spaces across the facility.
Update all Safety bulletin boards across the facility.
Determine appropriate locations for additional AEDs throughout PTC.
Continuously improve existing processes.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
Ability to learn other software applications as needed.
Experience in Manufacturing a plus.
Experience in writing safety policies and procedures preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor
Proven customer service skills
Must have ability to handle confidential information appropriately

Education

Working towards a degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or Environmental, Safety and Health, or other related degree, preferably junior or senior status.
