- Formulate a work schedule for each staff member comprised of specific shift and regular days off.
- Complete weekly payroll sheets for all security staff assuring accuracy and timely submission to payroll office.
- Monitor and record staff time and attendance
- Attend daily meetings with management to coordinate security coverage for events and hotel operations.
- Assure that all safety equipment is functional and complete daily inspections of same.
- Maintain files of all reports, their proper recording and submission to appropriate authorities.
- Assure the proper documentation of all lost and found property and its secure storage until return or disposal.
- Perform daily inspections of hotel property, addressing lapses in safety and security and report same to management.
- Review all reports submitted by security staff and make necessary corrections.
- Review daily activity log for proper documentation of security staff activity and hotel events.
- Evaluate security staff for proper dress and appearance and enforce compliance with United Security standards.
- Assure that all closed circuit monitors are functioning properly and coordinate maintenance with manufacturer.
- Provide for and schedule training for all security staff in all subjects required by directive and policy.
- Maintain and update Emergency procedures, post orders, and safety systems.
- Monitor and enforce compliance of proper licensing of all security staff as mandated by the Texas Department of Public Safety
- Assure that security Staff are conducting required patrols of interior and exterior areas of the hotel property and documenting same.
- Conduct screening and interviews of applicants for security positions and assure completion of all necessary documents required for employment.
- At least 5 years of law enforcement experience with a federal, state or local agency based in the Houston, TX area. This does not include experience as a security officer or security supervisor.
- Experience as a previous Director of Security is REQUIRED for this role.
- Exceptional customer service skills and excellent judgement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the Houston area's culture, communities, and dynamics.
- Proficient with interacting, communicating and working jointly with hotel management staff.
- Effective in managing, leading and training a team of professional hotel security officers in a premium hospitality setting.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of criminal law.
- Possess, or can acquire by time of employment, a Non-Commissioned Security Officer license through the Texas Department of Public Safety.
- Availability and flexibility to work any day, including weekends and holidays, and any work shift based on the operational needs of the hotel.
- Knowledgeable in the key aspects of private security including, but not limited to: Handling hotel security tasks, responding to emergencies, preparing and reviewing incident reports, reviewing CCTV footage, progressive discipline, etc.
- Knowledgeable in Morse Watchmans Keywatcher system.
- Knowledgeable in Saflok systems.
- Ability to prepare security work schedules, review timesheets and handle general administrative matters.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn security software applications and payroll systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain security and emergency procedures manuals.
- Possess a working knowledge of the hospitality industry and the related nomenclature.
